Jasper Aligawesa’s candidature for the parliamentary race hangs in balance after the Uganda National Examinations Board said the academic documents he used for nomination are not authentic.
In a letter to the police Electoral and Political Crimes Department UNEB, Deputy Executive Secretary Dan Odongo says they do not have Aligawesa in their records.
The former General Secretary of the National Council of Sports is running against Abraham Byandala for the Katikamu North Parliamentary seat.
According to Uganda’s electoral laws, one must have at least Advanced Level education to contest for a parliamentary seat.
To get the A Level certificate of Education, one must have studied and passed Ordinary Level.
In this case, UNEB said its records have Cyril Muwonge as the person who sat for Ordinary Level in 1971, not Jasper Cyril Muwonge Aligawesa.
For the East African Advanced Certificate of Education, UNEB said the true candidate was Cyril Muwonge, and not Jasper Cyril MuwongeAligawesa.
