The police are to remain deployed at parliament today to maintain law and order ahead of the much anticipated debate on lifting of the age limit.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Frank Mwesigwa says they have information that opposition politicians have mobilized people to stage anti-age limit protests and it is their duty to ensure security for Ugandans.
Mesigwa said that some roads around Parliament will be closed today, urging members of the general public to use alternative routes as shall be guided by traffic police.
Among the roads to be closed is Kimanthi Avenue, Parliamentary Avenue, Dewinton and Nile Avenue.
However, it is not yet clear if the age limit debate will be included on today’s Order Paper.
