Presidential adviser on political affairs Nuwagaba Yekoyada has been charged with three counts of unlawful possession 192.04 kg of wildlife species valued at 837360 Uganda shillings .
61 year old Nuwagaba has been charged by the Utility court sitting at Buganda road court headed by chief magistrate James Ereemye Mawanda and denied the charges.
He is jointly charged with two others who are still at large including 39 year old Katuna Bright a resident of Kyebando, and 30 year old Rwakaseta Fred a resident of Kisasi all found in Kawempe division Kampala district.
Prosecution led by Maureen Ninsiima states that on febuary 20th 2017 at Casablanca club in Kololo, Kampala district, Nuwagaba and two others still large were found in possession of protected wildlife species worth 109.5 kgs valued at 30.500 us dollars.
State further contends that on the 21st of febuary 2017 Nuwagaba was found with 78.5 kg of Hipo teeth valued at 27.500 us dollars at his home in Kisugu zone Makindye division Kampala district.
Nuwagaba was also found with a live tortoise and their scales worth 4.04 kgs valued at 1746 us dollar’s at Kawuka village in Wakiso district all without wildlife use right.
The magistrate has now adjourned the matter for one hour to State to reply to defense’s bail application
