Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party has tasked Police to issue a detailed report about the causes of rampant fires in schools.
This is after a fire gutted Kasana Junior School in Masaka City, killing seven pupils and injuring others.
Addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Kampala on Wednesday, Sharon Arach the UPC spokesperson noted that while fires have continued to damage property and in some cases claimed lives, police have not come out with a detailed report.
She noted that the latest fire incident at St. Theresa Kisubi Girls Primary School along Entebbe road and that of Kasaana Junior School in Nyendo Masaka among others are regrettable and deeply saddening as some pupils lost their lives while others are still in critical condition.
She wonders why police have failed to produce a comprehensive report about such incidents.
Arach urged government and school authorities to compensate the families of the victims and assist all the affected pupils.
