The Directorate of Police Health Services (PHS) has rolled out a month-long refresher course for the force’s commanders on mental health amid increasing cases of suicides and homicides committed by police officers.
This comes as Uganda commemorates the World Mental Health Day, today Monday, October 10.
Dr. Moses Byaruhanga, the director of Police Health Services tells KFM that since the beginning of this year, about eight officers have committed suicide in the districts of Kampala, Moyo, Kazo, and Pallisa among others.
