The ministry of finance permanent secretary Ramathan Ggoobi has revealed that funds for the Parish Development Model will be released in July, the first month of the new financial year 2022/2023.
Speaking on the KFM VPN show over the weekend, Ggoobi said the money is available and will only be released after they have finalised the robust plan and mechanism to ensure the initiative is well implemented.
Ggoobi says they have recruited all the required parish chiefs and are being trained and equipped with tools to take charge.
He meanwhile reveals that the registration of the beneficiaries who are mainly involved in subsistence agriculture is ongoing to ensure they are the right people getting the money.
Ggoobi meanwhile gives assurance on the success of the model that seeks to lift millions of Ugandans from the subsistence to money economy.
He says with the guideless and policy governing the model put in place, there will be a return on investment.
