Over 70 people have sustained serious injuries following an accident that occurred this morning at Kalandazzi swamp in Mpigi district along the Kampala – Masaka highway.
According to the Officer in Charge of Traffic Police in Katonga Region, Fabian Betubiza, the accident occurred at around 5:30AM, when a trailer from Goma–DR Congo collided head-on with a Tanzania – bound bus registration number T545 CYC.
Muisha Kambale the driver of the trailer and his conductor Shule Mumbere are the only two who have been identified.
The injured have all been rushed to Gombe Hospital. The police have blamed the accident onreckless driving and over speeding.
