While delivering the party’s end-of-year message in Kampala, the NRM Secretary-General Mr. Richard Todwong acknowledged the government’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption, from the highest levels of State House to local communities. However, he wondered why corruption is still on the rise despite the efforts.
Mr. Todwong further condemned the persistent practice of extortion by civil servants, highlighting its detrimental impact on national development. He also voiced concerns about the escalating evictions and land grabbing, noting that perpetrators often hold positions within government offices.
He urged government leaders and NRM cadres nationwide to actively denounce these unlawful activities wherever they encounter them.
Mr. Todwong assured Ugandans that the party remains committed to fulfilling its manifesto pledges. He emphasized the current focus on tackling unemployment, specifically addressing issues arising from the outdated teaching curriculum.
He wrapped up the address by calling upon all Ugandans to celebrate the upcoming festive season responsibly.
