The ruling NRM’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) has endorsed the deputy speaker of parliament Anita Among to contest for the position, of speaker of parliament.
This has been confirmed by the NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong, who revealed that CEC recommended the position of the Deputy speaker be handled and filled after the burial of Jacob Oulanyah.
Among is set to battle other candidates from the opposition and likely independents within NRM, who might go against the party position.
Todwongo said the assumption was to maintain the norm of having deputies take on the positions of the speaker.
The NRM caucus is set to sit tomorrow ahead of Friday’s voting on Friday at Kololo.
