Nation Media Group-Uganda (NMG-U) on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, introduced, through a notice to colleagues, the appointment of Ms. Susan Nsibirwa as the new Managing Director for Monitor Publications (MPL), with effect from January 2, 2024.
The notice further states that “the role reports to the Group CEO with a dotted reporting line to Monitor Publications Limited (MPL) Board Chairman.”
“Susan will be responsible for leading MPL, The East African and Africa Broadcasting (U) Limited (The broadcasting company that operates NTV Uganda and Spark TV) to deliver their long-term strategy, business plans and annual performance targets, to maximize value to shareholders,” the notice reads in part.
The company further highlighted her previous roles and achievements in different companies across the country.
“She will be joining NMG from Ayiva Consulting Solutions where she is currently the managing director. She previously worked for URGE – Uganda, Vision Group, MT Uganda, and dfcu Bank, among others. Susan is currently a member of the Strategy and Audit, Risk & Compliance Board Committees of Monitor Publications Limited and is the Board Chair at African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME), among other boards,” the statement reads further
Ms Nsibirwa is a marketing and communications professional with over twenty-five years of experience with fifteen years of these in senior executive roles successfully leading corporate, marketing, and communications teams and departments across diverse industries.
“She also has proven experience in successfully implementing strategic corporate social responsibility programs and crisis management plans. She brings expertise in communication, business strategy, and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders,” the notice reads further.
Ms Nsibirwa, according to the notice issued by the Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Stephen Gitagama, is a holder of a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Makerere University.
The company appreciated Mr. Tony Glencross, the outgoing MPL Managing Director, for his service to the company. Mr. Glencross is scheduled to leave the company on December 22, 2023, where Mr. Timothy Ntale, the Company Secretary, will serve as Acting Managing Director from December 23, 2023 until Ms. Nsibirwa assumes her new role.
