The National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) has eulogized the late Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere, describing him as a unifying factor to Ugandans.
Dr. Ssemogerere, the former president general of the Democratic Party, also a two-time former presidential candidate died last week at his home in Rubaga Division following a long illness that resulted into an operation.
Addressing a weekly news conference at the party’s headquarters in Bugolobi, NEED’s vice president, Evelyn Laken said the country has lost a great statesman, a freedom fighter, and it will not be easy to replace him.
At the time of his death, Ssemogerere was working hard to unify the divided opposition and he was pushing for the fronting of a single opposition candidate to change the status quo.
His body will be laid to rest this afternoon at Nattale-Nkumba, Entebbe Municipality in Wakiso district.
