President Museveni is today scheduled to meet members of the National Covid-19 Task Force to discuss their recommendations on the reopening of schools.
President Museveni’s meeting follows one that was held by the National task force technocrats on Tuesday.
The National task force meeting is said to have recommended that tertiary institutions be reopened in November as secondary and primary schools wait until vaccination of the target group is completed.
The National task force that was supposed to present the above recommendations to president Museveni yesterday was unable to do so because of the various engagements he had.
Dr Dennis Mugimba, the Ministry of Education spokesperson confirms that technocrats, during a Tuesday meeting at State House Entebbe which was chaired by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, recommended phased reopening of education institutions.
He however says a final decision shall be taken by the president.
Government closed schools and other education institutions in March last year as one of the ways to control further spread of Covid-19.
