President Yoweri Museveni has constituted a 7 member commission to investigate land illegality in the country.
Addressing journalists at media center the lands, housing and urban development minister Betty Amongi said the commission is to be chaired by lady justice Catherine Bamugemereire who chaired the UNRA probe.
The minister says the president’s decision was prompted by rampant land evictions and several complaints from the public over land including land grabbing, delayed transactions and unfair treatment of genuine land owners.
The commission which has been given 6 months is to inquire into the effectiveness of the law and processes of land acquisition, land administration, management and registration in the country.
Other members of the commission include Robert Sebunya, Mary Oduka Ochan, Joyce Habasa, Dr. Rose Nakayi, Fred Ruhindi and George Bagonza Tinkamanyire.
