The High court in Jinja has fixed the 9th/January 2016 to hear a bail application filed by the jailed Cultural leader of the Obusinga Bwerunzululu Charles Wensely Mumbere.
Mumbere’s bail application will be heard by the resident Jinja High court judge Eva Luswata.
Mumbere together with other 160 people are charged with terrorism, treason, murder, robbery, attempted murder and malicious damage to property in relation to the recent Kasese killings.
Today Mumbere and co-suspects appeared before Jinja Chief Magistrate’s court for the mention of their case which the prosecution reported as still on-going.
Presiding chief magistrate Francis Kaggwa then remanded them to Luzira and Kirinya government prisons respectively.
The magistrate however warned that he will unconditionally set free 13 suspects of the state does not arraign them before court on the next adjournment date.
This follows a complaint from the defence team led by Caleb Alaka that the where about of 13 suspects whom the state claims are receiving treatment from various hospitals are not known yet the law requires that they are produced in court within 48hrs.
