The Mubende District Police Commander Martin Okeyo and RDC have appeared before the commission of inquiry into land matters for questioning over the fresh violence that erupted between businessman Abid Alam and residents of Bukooba village.
The duo was summoned by the commission chairperson, Justice Catherine Bamugemereire, following the shooting of an 18-year-old boy by a security guard deployed on a disputed 12 square mile of land claimed by the businessman.
A fracas was earlier reported between the residents of Bukooba village, and security guards deployed by AbidAlam, resulting into a shooting that injured a one Allan Taremwa.
The residents reportedly accused police of conniving with Alam to harass them and releasing the security guard without facilitating his trial.
Justice Bamugemereire had earlier directed Alam to keep off the disputed land until the Commission completes investigations into its ownership, warning that Alam would be arrested if found at the scene again.
