Members of Parliament have vowed not to pass the budget for the next financial year unless government commits 59 billion shillings for the elderly.
The money under the Social Assistance Grants for Empowerment is meant for government counterpart funding to the elderly across the country.
As of January this year, Parliament noted that only 61 districts have been reached since the program was rolled out close to ten years now.
Key among the concerns raised by Parliament is that fact that whereas development partners have provided over 50 billion shillings towards the cost of total rollout, government has totally failed to meet her commitment of 59 billion.
The national budget is supposed to be passed by parliament before the end of May, every year.
