The ministry of education and sports has dismissed recent media reports that indicated that learners would report back to school in two weeks’ time.
According to the reports attributed to sources within the government, priority would be given to learners in candidate classes, Primary One –Three as well students in Senior One and Two.
However, addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Center in Kampala this morning, the spokesperson of the ministry, Denis Mugimba, said the dates quoted by media about schools reopening are not from the ministry.
He stressed that it is only the president who has the power to communicate the exact dates for school reopening.
Mugimba adds that reopening of schools will also involve the ministry of health which will give an update about the progress made by the country in fighting the covid-19 pandemic.
