Mobile money dealers under their umbrella body Kampala mobile money dealers association have this morning staged a peaceful demonstration by marching from their offices in Kabuye to parliament to petition the speaker Rebeca Kadaga protesting the one percent tax on mobile money transactions.
This comes at the time when several Ugandans have come out to detest new taxes that were introduced this new financial year.
These led by their chairperson Matthias Lukyamuzi want the tax amendment bill revised and the mobile money levy completely repealed.
They are also opposed to 0.5% proposed by President Yoweri Museveni last evening.
In a turn of events, three of the peaceful protesters were arrested upon reaching parliament.
