The Ministry of Works and Transport has defended it’s choice of the Airbus 330neo which many have branded unwanted, unpopular and outdated.
Addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Center, works minister Monica Azuba Ntege said government chose that model over the much loved Boeing 787 because of its large operator and customer base.
Ntege adds that the Airbus 330 neo is cheap to maintain due to the 99% approved availability of its spare parts as compared to its competitor.
She says this is a major component for the running of any airline since it enables easy maintenance services thus reducing the operational cost of the airline.
She adds that neo is technologically advanced with a better engine as compared to the Boeing model.
