UPDF representative in Parliament, Maj. Gen Julius Oketta has defended President Museveni’s long stay in power arguing that he is making a smooth transition of leadership to the young generation.
Addressing the over 500 carders at Pabbo Secondary School in Pabbo in Amuru district, Gen Oketta, said that other old people should not try to derail Museveni’s mission.
Oketta said the president is grooming young people to take up key leadership positions citing new NRM leaders like Justin Lumumba and her Deputy Richard Todwong and youth Evelyne Anite.
Oketta was responding to calls from various circles for president Museveni to give up power on grounds of advanced age.
