Three Court of Appeal justices have upheld an 8year jail term handed to a lecturer at Kyambogo University after he was found guilty of attempting to murder his wife by pouring acid on her.
James Kazungu Aluko was indicted with attempted murder, doing grievous harm, and sentenced to serve 8 years imprisonment by the Nakawa magistrates court.
Kazungu was dissatisfied and appealed to the High Court but the conviction was upheld and the sentence of 8years was not interfered with.
Still, Kazungu was unhappy with the decision of the High court and filed a second appeal against only the sentence, which also court of Appeal upheld saying the appellant is a lecturer at Kyambogo University who is well educated and knew what he was doing.
It is alleged that on October 28th, 2017 at Namataba village, Kira Municipality in Wakiso District, Kazungu attempted to cause the death of his wife by pouring acid on her.
This is after his wife asked him to leave her house after a serious quarrel between the couple.
