Fire last night gutted Ntinda police barracks and station. The fire that is believed to have started from the barracks as a result of negligence and spread to the nearest traffic office occurred at 9:45 pm.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the fire prevention and rescue services team acted swiftly and managed to put out the fire.
He says preliminary findings indicate that two children allegedly set fire inside the barracks that came into contact with electric cables.
The full extent of the damage has not been fully ascertained, however, no injuries or fatalities have been registered.
Owoyesigyire says investigators have moved in to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
