Cabinet is today set to meet and finalize on the issue of new municipalities.
The local government minister Adolf Mwesige who was last evening expected to table a position on the new proposed municipalities asked for more time to consult with cabinet.
He said while government had proposed some 11 new municipalities, there were some more proposed and the final position would be harmonized in cabinet.
Some MPs and civil society activists have opposed the move arguing that it will burden the taxpayer and worsen the cost of public administration.
Parliament is also expected to debate the matter of creation of the 23 districts today afternoon.
