The Member of Parliament elect for Buikwe South constituency in Buikwe District was arrested with over ten polling agents for the FDC candidate, Mr. Kananbi Jimmy.
According to Mr. Kanaabi Jimmy, the FDC candidate for LC5 for Buikwe District said that he got a call that his team has been arrested but the police was not giving the reason.
“I got a call that my team has been arrested and over seven people with the member of parliament elect for Buikwe south. We are very sure that my opponent’s team from the NRM, Mr. Mathias Kigongo, is in the field giving out money with the help of the police. I want to assure our supporters that we shall not give up,” Mr. Kanaabi said.
All the suspects were driven by police vehicles to Nyenga police station to record a statement and the police was cordoned off not to allow anyone access.
Bayiga Lulume, the Member of Parliament elect for Buikwe South managed to explain to us on phone that he had gone to supply food to the polling agents and the police intercepted them.
“We had taken food to our polling agents at Butembe polling station and the police arrested us thinking that we had something in our car but they only found food. Police are doing this to remove us from the polling station so that they can play their political games,” Mr. Bayiga said on the phone.
