The United Nations Educational and Scientific Organization has warned African Architects against copying European and Asian architectural designs because they are killing African Heritage.
While addressing the 11th African Union for Architects congress at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Dr. Allan Birabi the UNESCO expert for Africa said that although local architects are mandated to preserve cultural heritage, many have abandoned the mission and are fronting non-African designs which are affecting the environment and health of the Africans.
While opening the Congress, Lands Minister Daudi Migereko blamed the Architects for leaving foreign countries to come and dominate the local cultures blames the architects for the brainwashing which has made Africans believe that their local materials are inferior to imported ones.
