Independent presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi has promised to establish affordable banks to help the farmers access loans.
Addressing a rally in Adjumani town, Mbabazi said commercial banks charge high interest rates and set unrealistic conditions for security that not be met by the poor.
He also promised to repay loans of Ugandans who had failed to pay back loans from Shs 5 million below.
Mbabazi also said he would ensure that electricity is made affordable and accessible to poor to facilitate value addition on agricultural products.
