Ugandan rapper Navio real name Daniel Kigozi has joined forces with the late Elly Wamala on Hamadi, a song that identifies exactly what it means to be Ugandan.
Hamadi was first recorded half a century ago and it was widely appreciated by Ugandans due to its uncompromising storytelling ability.
On the new version, Navio delivers some real Hip Hop “bars” while maintaining the tune’s original storytelling style. Lyrically speaking, Elly tells a story of “Hamadi” and Navio tells us his own.
The song was composed by Aethan music, Baru recorded it and the video was filmed by Sasha Vybz.
“We would like to thank the Wamala family for all of their aid and support during the making of this project,” Navcorp, the label handling Navio’s music said in a statement.
Hamadi is off Navio’s “Vibes Out The East” project which dropped a few years after the release of the“Pride” album.
