Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze is expected to return to the country this afternoon from India where she had been taken for treatment.
This has been confirmed by Democratic Party’s (DP) Capacity Strengthening coordinator Elvis Kintu who says the surgery was successful but she had to remain in India for some weeks for physiotherapy.
Nambooze underwent a spine surgery on November 8th after doctors advised her to seek treatment abroad for injuries she suffered on her spine during a scuffle over the proposed removal of the presidential age limit in parliament in September.
She was among the 10 MPs hurt after Special Forces Command operatives raided Parliament during the scuffle.
Nambooze’s medical bills were cleared by the family members, her party DP and parliament.
Meanwhile, Francis Zaake, the MP Mityana Municipality is also undergoing treatment in India for head injuries sustained during the same scuffle.
