High Court sets 13th of October to hear an application filed by Nakawa division MP Michael Kabaziguruka seeking to be released on bail pending his trial before the General Court Martial sitting in Makindye.
Kabaziguruka through his lawyers led by Ladislous Rwakafuzi based his bail papers on constitutional right and his poor health.
Despite rulings by both the Army and the High court that MP Kabaziguruka is properly tried before the General Court Martial for allegedly aiding and abetting serving UPDF officers to commit service offences, Kabaziguruka still maintains that he does not subscribe to the jurisdiction of this court because he is not an Army officer.
Prosecution states that MP Kabaziguruka between the months of February and June 2016 conspired with 25 other people to contrive a plot to overthrow the government of Uganda by use of firearms.
The bail application is set to be handled by Justice Yasin Nyanzi.
