President Museveni has given himself a 2 weeks ultimatum to decide on the workers mid-term access to their savings.

This move followed conflicting information and change in wording regarding the National Social Security (Amendment) bill.

Meeting workers representatives , NSSF Managing Director and the finance minister , the minister of finance , the president said he wanted to be clear with the figures.

The President said he wants to do more research on the figures after the workers representatives said Shs 800bn was needed for the Mid-term access while NSSFs Executice Director Richard Byarugaba said they may need up to Shs 3trillion.

The workers representatives also said while they had agreed with NSSF that only workers who are 45 years and have saved for 10 years be allowed mid-term access of 20 percent of their savings, they were shocked to learn that the wording had changed.
