President Yoweri Museveni will embark on a mobilization tour in the Ankole sub region to monitor and further educate the population about the Parish Development Model (PDM). The initiative aims to help all citizens escape poverty and enter the money economy.
This was disclosed by the State Minister for Investment and Privitization Hon Evelyn Anite while addressing Ankole regional local leaders who converged at Mbarara City council offices.
Anite revealed that the presidential tour begins with visiting selected farmers in Rubirizi then Sheema, and Ibanda districts to assess their progress under the PDM program.
Anite’s revelation came shortly after a post on President Museveni’s X account confirmed the tour.
“Fellow Ugandans and, especially the Bazzukulu, this week, our tour takes us to the Ankole sub-region to assess how PDM is performing and to promote our wealth creation message,” Museveni’s post reads.
According to the program, President Museveni will participate in touring and commissioning the presidential skilling hub on Wednesday. He will later meet leaders from the Ankole sub-region at Bushenyi main stadium.
On Thursday, the President will address a public gathering at Mwizi Primary School in Rwampara District and then conclude with a live interaction with the media on February 28, 2025.
The chairperson of the Ankole parliamentary caucus and MP Kashari North, Mbarara district Mr Bataringaya Bazil Rwankwene urged the public to continue supporting President Museveni for his efforts invested in introducing several programs to fight poverty.
He said that in the thirty-nine years of NRM leadership through mobilization and education under Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) and now the Parish Development Model, poverty levels that were at sixty-eight percent in 2022 have been lowered to 39 percent and continue to be fought.
