President Yoweri Museveni has offered Mubende State Lodge for Ebola Isolation. This has been confirmed by Hope Nakazibwe, the Mubende district Woman Member of Parliament.
Members of the National Ebola Taskforce have already inspected the state lodge grounds to assess the possibility of establishing a spacious Ebola isolation and treatment unit in Mubende district.
The inspection, which was done along with Health Minister Dr. Jane Aceng, comes at a time when the country is seeing an increased number of Ebola infections and deaths.
The health ministry has registered a total 44 cases of Ebola infections and 10 deaths since the outbreak was declared last month.
President Museveni offered the State Lodge on Nakayima Hill, Mubende municipality, as part of the campaign to fight Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
The isolation facility is expected to handle both suspected and confirmed cases from the greater Mubende area.
Meanwhile, health officials yesterday discharged four patients who recovered from Ebola at Mubende hospital, bringing the number of recoveries so far to eight.
