By Ritah Kemigisa:

President Yoweri Museveni has congratulated Uhuru Kenyatta, upon his re-election as President of Kenya saying his victory is a testimony of the trust the people of Kenya have in him and his government.

In statement issued shortly after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission announced Kenyatta as winner of the 8th August general election, Museveni said he is confident that his counterpart Kenyatta will continue with the efforts of promoting unity and development of Kenyans.

He has meanwhile pledged cooperation with Kenyatta on working together to further the brotherly relations and cooperation as well as other East African community partner states to develop the region.

Kenyatta garnered 8,203,290 votes representing 54.27% against NASA’s Raila Odinga who got 6,762,224 votes representing 44.74%.
