President Yoweri Museveni and his political rival the FDC’s Col. Kizza Besigye are both expected in Jinja this afternoon, as campaigns for the Jinja Municipality East close today.

President Museveni will campaign for the NRM Candidate Nathan Nabeta at Lake Side Primary School while Col. Besigye will campaign for the FDC’s Paul Mwiru at Busoga Square.

By-elections are being held in Jinja Munipality East after court nullified the election of the incumbent Nabeta over malpractice including voter bribery.

Meanwhile, the High Court in Jinja has dismissed the petition challenging the nomination of the NRM’s Nathan Nabeta.

The petition was filed by the FDC’s Paul Mwiru, challenging the academic qualifications of Nabeta whom he said does not qualify to hold the seat.

Justice Flavia Senoga has however ruled that Nabeta has the required qualifications to hold the position.

Speaking after the court ruling, Nabeta scoffed at his critics accusing them of peddling lies against him to win public support.
