The Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere has asked that a similar meeting held on Sunday between President Yoweri Museveni and Rwenzururu veterans be held in his presence.
The jailed king says he believes a lot of the issues discussed during Sunday’s meeting at State House Entebbe were lies.
According to a message he sent to our sister paper Daily Monitor through his kingdom spokesperson, Clarence Bwambale shortly after attending a court session in Jinja on Tuesday, Mumbere says he finds some statements uttered by some of the veterans misleading and nonfactual.
He was responding to statements by some Rwenzururu veterans who confessed to president Museveni as having been behind the agitation for the Yiira State establishment and also responsible for the conflicts in the Rwenzori region.
The veterans have committed themselves in writing that they are responsible for the killings in Kasese and asked for pardon.
The king is jointly charged with more than 150 of his royal guards who are currently on remand in different prisons over charges arising from the raid on his palace in Kasese which was bombed out on November 27 by a combined squad of the police and the army.
More than 100 people were killed.
He will re-appear in court on Thursday for the ruling on his bail application.
