Mulago referral hospital has reduced the number of students admitted for internship.
The hospital has been admitting 300 students on a yearly basis.
Hospital spokesman Enock Kusasira says only 160 intern doctors have been taken on and the rest will be referred to other hospitals.
Kusasira says this is meant to create space as the renovations kick off.
