Makerere University students have withdrawn a suit in which they had sued the government over its closure.
The students presented a letter to the registrar of the High Court today informing him of their decision to withdraw the case.
In their letter, the student leaders including the guild president Dennis Onoka-Lit, Doreen Nyanjura and others said they had held consultative meetings with the university stake holders and resolved to withdraw the case.
The case was filed on 5th September and was due for hearing on the 22nd of this month before High Court judge Vincent Tiwangye Zehurikize.
The University Council closed the institution last week following a protracted strike by the staff.
The University remains closed as the staff make several demands including payment of their pension arrears worth Shs 16.7b from the National Insurance Corporation.
