The Leader of the Opposition Mathius Mpuuga has today unveiled a 29-member shadow cabinet.
According to Mpunga, Article 82A(c) of the Constitution and Rule 14 (2) of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament gives him powers to appoint a shadow cabinet that he will work with in the 11th parliament.
He says 18 of the shadow cabinet members are from National Unity Platform, 7 from THE Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), 2 independents, 1 from the Democratic Party (DP), 1 from the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) and 1 from the Peoples’ Progressive Party (PPP).
Wilfred Niwagaba (Ndorwa East) is appointed Attorney General, Kampala Woman MP Shamim Malende takes on the Justice and Constitutional Affairs docket, while Muwanga Kivumbi (Butambala County) will handle Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
Atkins Katusabe (Bukonzo West MP takes the Public Service docket, Derick Nyeko (Makindye East is assigned the Presidency & Security, while Dr. Abed Bwanika (Kimaanya – Kabonera) has been given agriculture.
Abubaker Kawalya (Rubaga North) has been assigned to Kampala Capital City Authority and Ronald Balimwezo, (Nakawa East) is the new Lands, Housing and Urban Development shadow minister, among others.
