Members of Parliament have queried the criteria used to promote UPDF soldiers.
Citing the rise of Brig. Muhoozi Kainerugaba through the ranks to head the Special Forces Command, as well as Maj. Gen Wilson Mbadi as Joint Chief of Staff from being the president’s ADC.
The MPs say promotions are selective yet several officers have been at the same rank for years.
MPs Ssemujju Nganda, Muwanga Kivumbi, Hasan Kaps Fungaroo and Simon Mulongo are demanding that a list be produced of all promoted officers indicating why they qualified.
Defense minister Cryspus Kiyonga has told the committee that the promotions are based on performance of the officers.
