Members of parliament have vowed not to bow to the western pressure over the anti-homosexuality bill.
The passing of the law in February this year drew outrage from various circles including the donor community and rights activities.
Consequently, several donors cut aid to Uganda.
The latest is the move by the UK government to stop the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga from addressing a business forum in UK on grounds of homophobia.
However, MPs Joseph Ssewungu and Beatrice Anywar say that Uganda’s independence must be respected.
The Constitutional Court on August 1 2014 annulled the anti-gay legislation signed into law in February on grounds that the bill was passed by parliament without the required quorum.
However, the speaker Kadaga said the Anti-Homosexuality Bill was set to be re-tabled and will be passed into a law as soon as possible.
