A section of legislators are contesting a directive by Parliament to streamline attendance of parliamentary sittings.
Last week, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga directed that the registration book at the foyer be removed an hour after the plenary sittings are held in order to curb absenteeism in Parliament.
It also followed caution to the Buganda caucus, after most of the members missed a sitting to go visit Gen. Salim Saleh’s private farm in Kapeeka.
However the caucus chairperson, Godfrey Kiwanda says such a move is bound to create friction and confusion, adding that other methods should instead be employed to encourage attendance.
Last week, the speaker sent two legislators, Issa Kikungwe and Ssozi Kaddumukasa to the disciplinary committee for missing 15 sittings consistently without permission from her office.
