Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana has been charged with a new count of murder bringing the total number of counts to seven.
This has been revealed by one of his lawyers Erias Lukwago.
In a tweet, Lukwago says he managed to speak to Ssewanyana who is currently detained at SIU Kireka following his re-arrest at Kigo prison precincts last week.
Lukwago says in the new charge, Ssewanyana is alleged that on the 4th day of August 2021, he killed, Joseph Bwanika of Kisekka B Village, Kankamba Parish, Lwengo District.
He says the legislator will remain in their custody and that officials at the detention facility were cagey on the next course of action.
Yesterday, Ssewanyana’s wife together with her legal team filed an application for habeas corpus which is pending hearing.
Ssewanyana is now facing four murder charges, attempted murder, Terrorism and abetting Terrorism.
Last evening, his Kawempe North MP Muhammed Ssegirinya was rearrested shortly after he was given bail on fresh charges of treason and incitement to violence by joint security team.
