Kabula county Mp James Kakooza is 20million shillings richer.
This is after court ordered the Parliamentary Commission to pay damages suffered when it held his gratuity in a special deposit account without his consent .
High court judge Elizabeth Musoke confirmed that it was unlawful for the commission to deposit the MP’s gratuity on an interest fixed account in Crane Bank without first consulting him.
Court also ordered the Parliamentary Commission to pay costs to Hon. James Kakooza and Hon. Sofia Nalule.
Hon. James Kakooza sued the Parliamentary Commission seeking a court order compelling Parliament to pay legislators damages of inconvenience after they were allegedly deprived of their money.
