Experts have expressed worry about the high number of children with sight complications.
Statistics from Sight Savers a non-government organization indicate that a total of 3.5 million children suffer from eye complications in Uganda every year
The organization’s country director Johnson Ngorok says the worrying statistics are mostly registered in rural and slum areas.
Ngorok notes that currently a total of 17,000 children are blind.
Dr. Grace Ssali, an eye surgeon at Mulago hospital says on a daily basis they receive 80 children with eye problems though many cases are reported at a very late stage.
