Police at Kalungu has finally recovered the missing National Resistance Movement (NRM) voter’s registers that were reportedly stolen from the NRM Office.
The 3 missing NRM registers have been recovered from Daniel Sejjoba’s home at Kiwesa Village, Lusango parish in Bukulula Sub County in Kalungu district.
The recovered registers include that of Kansamba Village in Bugonzi parish, Muwomya Village and Kasenyi Village both in Kyambala parish, Bukulula Sub County in Kalungu district.
On Monday police arrested Kristopher Mulindwa, Bukulura Sub County, NRM Registrar, and Daniel Sejjoba the Area District councilor over the stolen registers.
The duo was accused of stealing the ruling party registers with intention of taking them to former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and rigging votes in the ongoing NRM party primaries.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that Mulindwa connived with Ssejoba to sneak into the office to steal the party registers for Bukulura Sub County which they photo copied and tempered with by deleting some names and filling in names of other people.
Kalungu District Police Commander, Abudulatif Zzake, says that after spending several days in police custody Ssejoba confessed to have been involved in stealing the registers and revealed that he had hidden the registers at his home at Kiwesa village.
He says that Sejjoba led Police officers at his home where the registers have been recovered.
Noah Sserunjogi, the Southern Region Police Spokesperson, has confirmed the recovery of the NRM voters registers.
He says that police has released the duo on police bond as investigations into the matter goes on.
