The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries has ordered for a temporally closure of all livestock markets following an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the districts of Mbarara, Lyantonde, Isingiro, Sembabule and Kiruhura.
The State Minister for Animal Industry Joy Kabatsi has confirmed the re-outbreak of the disease saying it originated from Isingiro district where, traders buy infected bulls from neighboring Tanzania.
Authorities have been directed by the ministry to vaccinate all cattle before crossing the border.
