The Ministry of Health says it is grappling with Multi Drug Resistant Tuberculosis, an extreme form of TB that deserves special attention.
However, Dr Frank Mugabe, National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Programme manager says they are yet to establish the magnitude of the problem since they have been relying on estimates from a 1970 survey.
To address this, they have embarked on a survey to establish the number of people suffering from the infectious disease so that adequate resources can be allocated to combat the scourge.
The one year Shs6.8billion survey was commissioned last month with support from the Global Funds.
