The minister of state for Kampala City Authority Benny Namugwanya has hit back at the Kampala lord mayor Erias Lukwago over claims of blocking the KCCA ordinance to regulate law enforcement officers.

In a recent press conference, Lukwago faulted the minister for Kampala for blocking the ordinance to regulate the works of the KCCA enforcement officers, days after a one Olivia Basemera, a widowed vendor drowned in Nakivubo Channel, as she tried to run away from the KCCA enforcement officers.

However, while speaking to journalist at the office of the president, Namugwanya said that the lord mayor should stop working on speculation and instead work hand in hand with the technical wing to streamline the city.

She notes that her office has never received any ordinance or act from the KCCA.

Meanwhile, Lukwago says that once the ordinance is passed, law enforcement officers who manhandle vendors will be punished by the law.
