Minister for Kampala Beti Kamya denies sneaking Kibuule’s gun out of parliament

David Kugonza | October 5, 2017

By Moses Kyeyune:

The Minister for Kampala City Authority, Beti Kamya has denied allegations of sneaking out the gun that caused the fracas in parliament last week.

The minister says her name has been brought to disrepute after a story allegedly published by a local newspaper, linked her to the gun that was in the possession of State Minister for water, Ronald Kibuule.

Kamya also wants parliament to compel the newspaper to apologise and retract the allegations.

Although last week, the Speaker confirmed that Kibuule sneaked the gun into the chambers, contrary to legal provisions, its whereabouts have never been spoken about.

Meanwhile, the Speaker has also committed 40 lawmakers to the committee on rules and discipline, but Kibuule’s name does not appear on the list.
