The government will not relent in its fight against substandard goods.
State minister for trade James Mutende says government has a duty to protect its citizens and so calls on members of parliament and car importers to support the PIVOC program.
He says 45 % of inspected vehicles do not meet requirements and so this program is one way of stopping them from getting to the Ugandan market.
Various traders have previously raised concern over the program citing increased cost of doing business.
